Ok, at some point I will need to replace my cat. Does anybody know anything about high flow cats and their legality (I'd like to match a high flow cat with an aftermarket cat-back exhaust for efficiency)? I live in VA and we have emissions standards so I can't get too crazy. I've heard that some are 50 state CARB legal, while others are not. Does anyone have any info on cats that are 50 state CARB legal?

I'm sure someone is going to say 'Get one off an M3 from eBay'. How is the M cat different from the cat on a 328is?

well you could get 49 state legal ones, since you dont live in Cali....i however have not indulged myself in knowledge of high flow cats......

there should be no difference in the 328 and m3, i believe. They both use the same seperate Cat system split at the headers joined at the lambda and muffler.
