BMW cant play mp3's. - BMW Forum

Dont you hate how your car cant play mp3. SO really you cant play mixed cds or even recorded cds. You cant listen to the radio all the time and you dont want to hear the songs on a cd you play, unless its (The Neptunes presents the CLONES)haha. But yeah then again, you dont want to upgrade to an after market cd/mps deck in your new bmw. And some us including myself likes some thump in the ride. anyone have a stock deck with a amp and sub in the trunk?i think it jsut plain sucks.

I agree, I don't think BMW did a good job with their sound system. I looked at the amp in my trunk awhile back and it does not have rca's to the head unit. It has one multi wire plug. It's been awhile since I looked so I could be wrong. I'm guessing the same arrangement on the other end at the head unit. I would consider changing the amp but unless there is an adapter it looks like you would need to change the head unit out in addtion to the amp to up the power. Actually I would also be interested in any information anyone has on this subject. I have the standard system in my 04 M3.

...and im afraid to tap into the "BMW electrical system" bc i might disengage something. plus im new to the BMW scene. Anyone with a amp/sub setup in their new BMW i guess 00 and up?

We do make a Auxiliary audio input for newer BMW's.

I have an E30, and I had to replace the head unit just so I could listen to CD's, and the amp in the car blows so much. It can barely go loud at all, then it sounds like my speakers are popping, when really, the speakers are fine, the amp just sucks so much. AND I get this loud and high frequency like radio sound contantly, and it goes louder when I give it more gas and get higher RPMs, so if you get a new head set, you gotta get this ignition stuff to take out this weird sound, and its such a bitch to replace head sets in BMW's. There is so much wireshit you have to do..took us many hours...and there are like duplicate wires for each speaker. its complicated and a neusence.
