I realize one is supposed to be a motorcycle and the other a car. But I think it's really retarded. I've never heard anyone say "bimmer" in real life. In fact the only reason for "beemer" is to shorten that phonetically awkward acronym "BMW" - NOT provide a further divide of the company line up. Who thought of that anyway?

Definitely not important enough to correct in posts IMO.

Discuss.

You know you drive a BMW when you use the correct spelling for the car, and a different spelling for the motorcycle.

You see my friend when you drive a BMW, sometimes the little details are the ones that mean the most to you.

Origins of it:

Back in the day there were BSA motorcycles and people called them Beezers. Then BMW Motorcycles came out and people started to call them BEEMERS. And when the cars arrived, nobody thought it would be right to call the car the same thing as a bike ... so Bimmer.

I never say bimmer I say beemer and in fact when I'm reading out loud, I pronounce the two the same. I really don't give a fuck, ClarenceT, I'm with you.

lol! The spelling demands a different pronounciation, but I have never met anone who says "bimmer." Everyone I know pronounces it "beemer" (or "beamer," which is the same pronounciation). I stay away from using the term, anyway. I say BMW, or 3-series, z4, m5, etc., etc.

I thought it was "delicious titties and mulberry pie?"

...
Or is there a secondary meaning to the pie that I completely missed.
