the e28/e34 535i. its got a peppy engine, which from my experience the m30 is the most durable engine bmw ever made. it always outlasts m20's and even m20's are usually good for at least 200k miles. alot of wide tires you can fit under those chassis too, in addition to being able to fit pretty muchalmost any wheel designed for a modern bmw (5x120 bolt pattern)
best BMW ever? well that would probably be the E46 M3 CSL, seeing as how it's got the same hardcore attitude that the E30 had, with superior handling and power. It's certainly the best street BMW.
