Finally got it hooked up (not installed, just hooked up) and the SQ was incredible. Im used to FM and data disks with mp3/wma. This was also without the sub in the car. Damn, once I finish my new box and get the new amp hooked up (Alpine MRV-T420), this shit will be bangin.

Pics soon. I'll eventually do a writeup for an e36 install, but I can't find my uplink cable. Maybe I'll have time to barrow one of the freelance viaos tomorrow and use its mem stick slot.

Glad you like it... XM does sound incredibly clear. Around here though the signal "hiccups" occasionally but overall it is good stuff for sure!

Satelite radio will one day be as commonplace as satelite and cable TV service. It is amazing how good it is, and my customers come back to thank me all the time.

Glad you like it, the only downside is that it will make you really hate Mp3. I am an audio snob and can't stand the sound of most downloaded music (satelite radio is on the verge of being unacceptable), but for many it takes a superior format like satelite radio for them to see the light...

far far too mayn mp3s are encoded at tooo low of a bit rate. I do my in VBR up to 256 or 320 (i forget).... it may not be satelite quality but its better than FM.

Agreed. Anything over 128kbps is ok, but I just cringe at the sound of digital compression. Satelite radio is not free of this, but they do a good job to vary the compression on frequencies that are most prenounced thereby limiting audible digital compression to a minimum...
