X5 3.0i Head Unit Question - BMW Forum

I have a X5 3.0i that I want to keep the factory head unit, and put in a Auxiliary jack to plug in my mp3 player so I can play it through the factory speakers. Does anyone have a wiring diagram to make this? I have seen it floating around for about $32.00. But Im a die hard to do it myself.

I've seen some wireless ones that are relatively cheap and are universal for any car that has an FM radio.

Im actually installing a CarPC, and I built it myself. I own a computer store. Being a vetran in this field for the last 14 years. This little baby will have internet inside the car, mp3 player, dvd player, phone, Nav etc... (Another distraction lololol!) I will post pictures when I am done. I found out that the CD Changer that I THOUGHT I had, is not a changer, but a CD STORAGE. GOD! I feel like a idiot! 4 year grad of MIT and didnt know what a CD Changer looks like. Anyways, Is there a aux cable schematics to making your own cable? So I can have a audio input?

you can use the existing cable meant for the factory cd changer, you'll just have to figure out how to fool the radio into thinking there is a changer plugged in and figure out which wires are the audio input. i'll look around and see if i can find a pin-out for the cable.

no, sorry i didnt find anything. it may be something one would have to get from a repair facility.
