ok, so i bought this blaupunkt HU off this kid from another forum. He told me it came with a wiring harness. That wa part of the reason i bought it. Except when it came in, it didn't have a wiring harness.
I bought one today. I have no idea how to install it. I know one end plugs right into my DIN port. The other end, i have to splice thw ires onto my head unit.
WTF? how the hell do I do that??
Any ideas? I searched - admittedly half-assed - but I haven't seen a DIY. Electronics really aren't my bag (even though I'm a computer programmer). I much prefer mechanical stuff.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you post a picture of what you have? I may be able to help. Blaupunkts sometimes have weird looking harnesses, and I would also like to see what harness your new one came with.

I'll have to post some pictures tonight. Basicaly, the setup is like this:
wiring harness in the car's DIN port->
wiring harness I just bought. the back end of which is 13 free wires->
the back of the HU with has 16 pins, but no colors associated with the pins.

pics to come soon.

it sounds like your missing the part that clips to the back of the headunit and splices into the harness that plugs into your dashboard.

In reality, you need two harnesses.
If you had both, and they were the correct ones, everything would be color coded.
