My e36 94 2dr 325 came like this when I bought it.

It's even different for each door.

For the drivers door:
Window rolls down when I open the door.
Window rolls back up if I lock the doors with the remote.

For the passenger:
Window rolls down when the door opens.
Window rolls up when the door closes.

What could be causing this and who do you think I should take this to to fix it. It gets quite annoying. I've gotten to the point where I dread opening the door.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm? If so, it's probably that.

If not, my guess would be a relay, but I'm really not sure.

Yes I do. The previous owner had an aftermarket alarm system, which I replaced with a viper system.

Is there a way to turn that off? I don't think it's a feature of the security system, but a bmw mechanic said it might be something programmed into the module.
