jontreacle is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi, i've just bought 2001 330ci coupe and want to change the factory fitted cassette player. Obviously the current stereo is combined into the dashboard, so I need to change the whole unit.
Can anyone advise me on -

1. What cd player is best as a replacement?
2. Is it a diy job or audio electrician?
3. Can I but the outer housing and fit any cd player head unit?

Thanks for your help JonTreacle

Choosing a cd player is completely up to you. Witch brand do you like bes,t do you want an mp3 player, what are you looking for in the cd player, how much you wanna spend, what are you looking for as far as output goes (watts that is).... so long and so forth, give more details and we'll be able to help you choose. I personally use a sony xplod cd//mp3 player

the problem that i have is not so much what stereo, it is the fact that the centre console of the dashboard contains the stereo and therefore i'd have to remove it. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
I need to know where I can buy a surround that will enable me to replace the limited factory fitted unit with something better.
