Verizon & BMW Bluetooth

I was wondering if there are any more Verizon phones that are compatible with new BMWs aside from the pitiful few on their website. In addition to simple pairing I'm looking for contact list syncing and ideally voice activated dialing.

I work for verizon, so I should be qualified to answer this question for ya.

Phones that will work with bluetooth car kits need to have the Object Exchange Bluetooth Profile. (OBEX).

Do a search on verizon's website for OBEX and it should bring some stuff up for ya.

If you need any specific info on a model, PLEASE ask me before you buy. Verizon has some great phones and also alot of REALLY crappy phones you definatley do not want to buy.

IIRC, BMW requires OPP in order to work, not full OBEX.

If a phone with verizon has OPP, it also has OBEX.

That is not true. OPP is just one part of OBEX. From Verizon's website:

*The MOTORAZR˛ V9m supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: Headset, Hands–free, Serial Port, Dial Up Networking, Stereo (A2DP), OPP and FTP for vCard and user generated images/video. It does not support all Bluetooth object transfer (OBEX) profiles. See Bluetooth for details.

I wouldn't take a motorola product if it was free. They've been making absolute shit phones since the v265.

Lets go through thier product line:

v265/v710 - Charging port issues

v325/v325i - Battery lasts 6 months, then refuses to hold charge

Razr v3(insert letters) - Complete junk, list too long to post here. White screen of death, crappy software, slow.

Razr Maxx (V3xx) - More razr-like issues.

Krzr - Smaller razr, guess what? same software problems, front screen is also GLASS and will spiderweb if given a good drop.

w315 - Crappy interface, hard to use

w385 - If a w315 and a krzr mated, you'd have this stupid little device. Just add the problems from the 315 and the krzr and subtract the glass screen.

I would definatley not buy a motorola, much less a NEW, UNTESTED, V series phone.

So I will rephrase, OPP != OBEX, I would not buy a verizon phone with OPP and not OBEX.

Something by Samsung or LG. Thier models are pretty much the top 'o the line for the moment. As far as specifics... The u540 or the u740 are excellent handsets, you will have to confirm that they are OPP compatible. From LG the 9900/enV is a great choice if you're looking for a full keyboard, otherwise the 8700 is a really sharp looking phone. You'll have to confirm OPP/OBEX on your own for all of those though.

If you find a different model and need to know about it, let me know.

I have a 2007 X3 and LG Dare. Any way to get the bluetooth to work? Does Verizon or BMW have a software fix?
