Upgrading alternator e36

Hi guys been wondering about this and no one else i know seems to know either so does anyone know whether a 6 cylinder (325i) e36 alternator fill directly fit a 4 cylinder (316i) car?

I'm pushing around 2000w rms and my tiny 70 amp alt is beginning to pack up.

I am not sure if they will interchange, but another option is an upgraded alternator like from Stinger, or Ohio Generator. You can also get yours rewound at an electronic motor place of business.
