trouble running RCA cables for sub in 92 325is

I just bought a couple subs and an amp and i went to try and run the RCA cables to the back of the HU and found i can't figure out how to get the HU out. It's an pioneer HU and i never put it in so i dont know how they got it in there. any help with getting the dash apart to get to the back of the HU would be awesome. thanks

Pull the faceplate off, then the trim ring around the faceplate (careful, because it will break). There are 2 flat keys that slide in either side of the radio, in between the radio and the metal sleeve (can, bucket, whatever you want to call it). If you dont have them, go to your local pioneer stereo shop and ask if you can beg/borrow/steal a set. Or pay them the 10 bucks to release it from the dash and you can slide it back in when your done running RCAs.

Keys look like these:

lol, not a know-it-all, just 20+ years selling and installing car audio/video/security between 3 professional shops. Plus the last three radios I've had (perks of working in a car audio shop consist of getting the first of whatever comes out) have been Premier (pioneer's pro line). Latest one:

Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul

Trying to find something inexpensive in the Alpine world that works with my Blackbird GPS, but inexpensive + blackbird + touchscreen = still too much $$$

Those stupid tools cost 12 bucks from pioneer when I had to buy them again. I lost the set that came with my head unit.

That's a bummer. I used to give them for a couple bucks, or free to my good customers.
