Subwoofer Problem

I didn't know where else to post this so I hope someone can help me out. I was playing some music and suddently my bass just stopped working. I looked in my trunk and the bass was getting NO power, it didn't move one bit. The light is on to my amp but I don't know if it is broken or what. Has anyone else had this problem before?

first thing...unplug the subwoofer and use any other speaker (that you know that works) and hook it to your amp to see if the amp still works. If your amp works you have a bad sub, if it doesnt work, ask a buddy to borrow his amp to test your sub to make sure it still works (or take it inside and hook it to your home audio system).

Sometimes a sub lets go and it takes the amplifier out with it (I've seen it too many times).

One you can do is remove the Sub from the speaker box. Attach speaker wire back to the sub. Take the positive side and hold it to a cordless drill battery (Preferably 12volt or 9.6, if neither is available, just use a 9volt battery people use in firealarms). Take the negative side and hold it to the negative side of the drill battery, for 2 seconds. If the sub 'pops' or moves outward, (if you have the polarity backwards it moves inward), then your speaker still has life in it.

This doesn't mean the sub is 'not' blown, but it is likely you are having problems outside the sub.

I'm late to work, so try this, if it doesn't work, post it back in reply. We'll figure out whats wrong with it.
