stereo pros please step in!!

Hey everyone, I'm new here, great site and I look forward to be apart of this forum!!! I have a 2003 325 cic and have a qestion about the stereo sytem. I dont have the harmon kardon, and i regret not getting it. my qestion is how can i upgrade the system? will simply putting in better speakers make a difference while using my existing head unit? are there any aftermarket speakers that fit in the existing stock locations? should I buy harmon kardon speakers? I'm not one to blast the speakers, nor do i need ground shattering sound, i just want soemthing that sounds clear when im on the highway with the top down. Thanx for the info!!!

to the forums...

If you dont mind changing out the headunit, that is the best cheap alternative. A set of speakers may actually go backwards because you are limited to what power the factory radio puts out. The speakers would be the next upgrade. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll help where I can...

go all out. I got a 99 323 a few months ago and am waiting to do everything. I have a 5 channel amp, alpine type x components, boston sub, eclipse HU, the works. You'll want to rewire in the end, but it'll be worth it. I'll post pics of mine along with a DIY when I finally do it.

if you want the stock look, you will need to do an amp... easiest thing will be a new headunit...
