stereo modding

i want to get and in dash dvd player with lcd touch screen...the thing is when teh screen comes out it covers the air vent...since i live in tx...AC is something u really need...i want to install a double din touch screen such as the one below..but since my e36 stereo is single din...i was thinking of taking off the OBC and puting the AC controls there and using the now empy AC slot and the regular stereo slot to put a double din screen...i know thered be some cutting and stuff involved...question is how much trouble would it be and has anyone done it before? thanks

It's been done before. You are going to have to modify the piece where the OBC is. A lot of people just move the OBC into the glovebox, cut the sunglasses holder, and put the screen down there.

don't they sell LCD units that come out then flap down, rather than come out and flap up?

i havent seen a fold down, the mod can be done but it will take a lot of time and patience...

time and patience i have, just not sure on how to go about doing all this...i know that the bottom part of the ac control is curved, not square and would involve cuting and shaping that part...anything else i should know?

any help on this would really be appreciated
