Ok sooo, i did some research of my 98 323is... and on cruthfield, my rear speakers say that they at 4" speakers.... when i ripped my stockies out, they are definately not 4 inches... they look like they are 6.25".. do they even make 6.25" speakers... what size speakers fit in the factory harness!!!??? ghead

I know you can hollow out the box for larger ones. Sizes are 1" tweet 3" midrange in the door, 5 1/4 kick panel, 4" in the rear wtih a 1" tweeter.

Take a picture, or get out the measuring tape. I'd still like a picture anyways so I can see how much cutting was involved.

If it had 6.25s, it was modified to fit 6.25s, and thats what you shouls buy.

Personally, I say disconnect them. When you go to a concerrt, does the sound come from behind? At any musical event, when does it come from any but the stage, infront of you? In a car, there is no need for surround sound IMO. I have mine disconnected, the imaging is much better due to no rear noise.
