Hey everyone.. i am currently lookin for a good sound system to put into my car. I don't want anything that loud, jsut something that sounds nice and clean. Any suggestions on a system? I'm not really too sure on wat size speakers I have in my car already.. I know they are NOKIA. I drive a '96 328i. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i have infinity's all around, components in the front coax in the back and a basslink in the trunk, imo the sq is pretty good, i'm into rock and ska it fills it all out pretty nice
i have one 10 inch mtx 8000 in the back, i like my music nice and loud, but i am turning it down more often than up coz it's too loud...
i got it on www.ubid.com for about 50 bucks with shipping, they got some good deals once in a while, just make sure you get a model number that ends in A not AB, the B signifies a B stock.

What brands of speakers would you recomend? And what amps woul you recomend? I have a 93 325. I want to put a system in it. 2 Amps in the Trunk and kicker or box in the trunk also. I want it loud and be able to hear it clear. Not just being able to hear the background.
I like JBL speakers. They have their own sound if you like it.
Be sure to get an EQ with as many bands as possible so you can adjust it to your liking.
As far as amps, go listen to some installations with a CD that you own and know what is should sound like. Take the CD to a stereo store and play it on a high end system so you have something to compare it to.
You won't need 1000 watts or anything close to that. Look for the RMS ratings. 100 watts RMS amp for the bass (a bigger speaker size 12"-15"is usually better if you have the room), 25 watts RMS each for mids/tweeters will be fine for clarity and great sound. 4 speakers (two front tweeters and two rear (mids/tweeters) with one sub should do you fine. If you want to double those ratings that's fine too. Be sure to get speakers/cross overs that can handle the RMS ratings.
THX! How much you think it will cost? My dad knows someone that owns a radio place so I can get hooked up. Someone told me MPI amps or something like that are real good.
Brahma has the flattest BL curve out there. (which means it is more ACCURATE at high volume levels) If your worried about it being so accurate and not being loud enough, Look at the videos, check out the ford explorer video!) For car, its quite possibly the best subwoofer drivers you can get. Since you don’t really want a loud system, you’ll probably be more than happy with a 12" Brahma and a sub zero box. BTW, this stuff isn't cheep but good things are rarely inexpensive. Take a look at what your driving.
You want a good amp for that? You want a cadence amp. The cadence A7 is cheep, Very efficient, and one of the cleanest amplifiers out there, and at 1400W, You'd be all set for either size Brahma you throw at it. (THD: 0.015%!!!)
Also, as Silver4evr stated, go by RMS figures. DO NOT even consider peak figures. those are a marketing term and are in no way musically accurate.
Edit: Holy crap it sounds like im advertising that stuff! hah.
thx! I dont think it will be cheap...but I will get a good deal. Do those amps last long? I like the box and the two amps with the glass looks koo IMO. Just change the inside speakers. And maybe one amp under the passenger seat. Think I should get to amps inside the car?On the driver seat and passenger?

Mb quartz for in speakers
substitues are boston accustics, or focal
JL W0, W3,W6, W7 (depending on budget) for subwoofers
JL mono class D amp
substitues pretty much any good name class D amp will be cool
JL 4 channel amp to keep the theme and also because i think JL make some awesome amps for the price.
