Looking for radio upgrade from stock - want something simple with 2 things (other than good sound, which the 10 speakers should provide)
detachable face plate (it's a ragtop)
and CD player.
Don't want to spend too much - any suggestions for brands?
Also, what is your opinion on having MP3 capability? I'm not a real electronics/music whiz. Also, opinions on Sirius capability?

Thanks,

Taylor

Not an electronics wiz either. Kenwood, plain and simple!

Well, I am an electronic whiz, and I would also recomend Kenwood. If you don't want to spend a lot but still want a good CD receiver with a detachable face, Mp3 playback, Sirius capability, and has selectable illumination that mathces the BMW illumination very well, the Kenwood KDCMPV-5025 can still be found at crutchfield.com (but in short supplies as it's about to be replaced) and should be pretty cheap. My store has a few left for like $160.

Hi Jilphan, I saw that one in the store, and it appeared that the faceplate could be tricky to reattach. What do you think?

Oops! I just found the info from the store - it was a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579. It was selling for $229. I have to have it installed, or I would get it from you. (wife wants it asap) It seemed tricky to reattach the faceplate - the salesman seemed to have a problem.
Thanks,

Taylor

That's the same one I have. I admitt, I have not tried to remove the face plate yet.

This is a dynamite HU for the money. Good luck!
