Ripping Everything Out

I've been trying to install my stereo in my E34 for a while now, and its pissing me off.. I cant get any sound from the wires..ive got power to the new head unit... Seems simple enough but its just not working right.. I am about to swap out my interior for a newer black one, and I want to rip out all the original bmw stereo wiring etc... ANy tips for new wiring that i should put in?? HOw about the amp system?

First, I would try to find a wiring diagram for the car. I'm sure you probably have four speaker leads running from the oem head unit to the oem amp, at which point it is crossedover, amplified, and sent out to various drivers, so you would really need to use your factory amp OR replace your oem speaker system.

Replacing your speakers with better aftermarket components will take advantage of your new head unit. These new components will come supplied with the necessary crossovers, or you can use coax speakers front and rear.

Then one merely needs to bypass the amp, and you can use the existing speaker leads after a bit of rewiring.
