Rear speaker replacement for e46

After only having the car for one month (bought a used 2001 325 Ci), I think I damaged the rear speakers somehow (they sound kind of farty with any base....even with just voices in a news report).

What size are the rear speakers? I do not have the Harmon Kardon speakers. I don't want to have to do any cutting to put in new speakers or anything.

What speakers would you recommend (brand and model number).

P.S. Would it sound unbalanced if I just replaced the rear speakers without replacing the other ones? Would I require an amp to get some 'good' sound? I don't want earbleed volume or anything....just good sound.

Well, I called the dealership today to find out what the size of the speakers were...but they said that they didn't know what size they were. They did however have the part number if I wanted to order some. What a bunch of crap. Suuuuure you don't know the size of the speakers. You just don't want to tell me so I would just go in and get them to install the replacement ones.

Oh well. Can't blame them for trying I guess....
