This question is aimed mainley at Scarface, but anyone else who works in installation or has a good of experience is free to answer as well.

Something on/in my trunk is rattling. I want to dynomat, but I don't know where to start. My problem started with the actual rear shelf. I took it out, along with the pillar trim and rear seat. the only thing back there is the foam that was sandwitched between the bare metal and the shelf. I think the black taillight cover is rattling now, but I cannot be sure. Whenever i sit in the rear seat it's too loud to tell where it's coming from. Also, the black panel that covers the locking mechanism is loose and I think it is causing a lot of the noise. But the main rattle sounds like its coming from the supports above the box. HOW DO I FIX IT!?

i went for a spin, stopped in a remote spot and cranked it. Took out the plastic thing I was talking about. No effect.

I also played with the box some and I noticed that it has probably sprung a leak. I put my hand over part of it and the rattle went away almost immediately. My hand was also on the metal right above it, which is what i think is rattling, so that could have been it too. I'll play with it more this weekend. Either way, the rattles need to end.

El presidente, sorry for the delayed response, without seeing it in person it is hard to say what to do, in this case I would attack every possible surface with dynamat that is near the part that rattles or anywhere else. I also have a problem with my trunk lid rattling and the rear deck issue as well, just been too lazy to fix it! I soon plan to buy the Dynamat Xtreme trunk kit and do every possible spot I can. Not only does dynamat stop rattles but it makes the area so much more dense and enhances the bass reflex in the trunk. I will also take my sub out and dynamat the inside of my box as well. use the Xtreme do not use the Original, you have to heat the original and mold it, shit sucks, the xtreme just rolls on(dynamat sells a roller to help roll the stuff in place in cracks and crevices ets...)

thanks for the tip about extreme. After I got tbe box out I found most of my porblem. The rear of my box is reverberating agaist the other panels of the box because the panel has come loose. Rather than fix it, I may just build another one in a few weeks when I'll have access to better tools. The table saw I used on my current one barely cuts straight.
