Radio Advise

I just got a 96 BMW 328ic and love it. However, the radio seems to have problems. It is the standard Alpine BMW radio. The lights are dim on the display which I can live with but FM was crackling now does not come in at all. AM and WB come in perfectly. Is this something that looks easy to repair or should I just get a new radio?

also it could be an anntenna problem , however i think you could need a replacement deck

Check the antenna leads and make sure the connections havent been severed.

Leads where? Back of radio? Trunk?

The anntena is behind the trim panel on the driver side above the rear shelf. Take it off and you'll see a black box. Make sure the connections are good. Also, look at the rear window. You will see a wire connecting the box to the window. Make sure it is intact.
