hey guys i really need a radar detector im isck of getting pulled over! haha but i dont want to spend A LOT of money, what would you guys say to buying one off of ebay? Ive been looking into them and found them for really really good prices... check this one out and tell me what you think and if its a good one..
Get a V1. It'l pay for iteslf in a fairly quick ammount of time. If you hate tickets, Thats what you want.
Getting that Vs. 2-3 tickets, I'd pull for the V1.
BTW, I'm sure you know this and have heard it a thousand times but they only help against radar that's always on, such as with a state trooper on the highway. In the city or in traps where there's no traffic around you and they use a gun, your most likely going to get screwed no matter what you have so to really avoid tickets, try to take it easy unless your on a very familiar section of road or fairly busy 2 lane or more highway. So far that method has worked well for me.
You might want to check out this thread for a side-to-side comparison of the valentine one and the passport 8500.
Thats not exactly true about in city driving, and highway for that matter. Few use an always on system, except for drones that display speed as you pass. The key to using the radar detector is paying attention to Ka warnings, and paying attention to the duration of the warnings a strong spike followed by progressively stronger spikes indicates a cop, whereas a low and always on signal is generally something else.

oh it will work, it just may not give you as much of an advanced warning as the V1 or 8500 would, which is really what you want. When speeding, you cover much more distance than you would at normal speed, so more warning gives you more time to slow down, which allows you to go faster without getting cought.
yah i heard about that method once.......sounds a bit to rebellious for me

Yes go to radartest.com! I just got setup with Escort, and got some of the Passport radar detectors, and I really like the 8500...Haven't had a chance to try it, but it seems to be the top pick so far....

Just got the Escort Passport 8500 X50 Blue....off eBay...it was $288 total...$15 dollars shipping....I really like it.
I'm thinking about hard-wiring it to my car....but I'm getting a new car in 1 year. So if I hard-wire it to my car...is there a way to un-wire it and hard-wire it to my new car? Or should I just wait for the new car?
