Red face Poor Radio Reception

Hi Each - I have recently bought a year 2000 E46 318i SE with a standard 'business' Radio/Cassette. I am having some problems with radio reception. Sometimes it's a bit hissy and is also affected by turning on the heated rear window when for a few moments, it is very hissy but this does improve although not altogether go away. Anyone out there have any ideas? Many thanks.

Send a message via MSN to da_bull
in my car the antenna is intertwined with the rear heater in the rear window. do this: check it on a known good AM station. if you can pick up AM, your antenna is fine. you may then have a problem with the FM tuner in your radio and there isnt much that can be done aside from replacing or repairing your radio. if you cant pick up AM your antenna may be bad. you have to have a good, working antenna to pick up AM, where FM you dont really have to have one.
