Allright I see how the OEM head unit comes out. With the two easy access bolts on the sides of the unit. But how's the new one go in? It doesn't have those easy access bolt holes.
my headunit came with a metal mounting bracket around the unit itself, it just slid in and locked. this should work on your e36, unless you have an odd shaped aftermarket unit
btw, holla at you in baltimore

You, sir, are the absolute end all and be all of awesome tonight. I was just having the same factory amplifier problem that was being discussed in another thread.(The problem where all the lights and numbers on the head unit work and the CD spins, but you don't hear any sound) Your directions on how to rewire the harness to sidestep the little issue were right on.
no problem, i saw the pics of your car in the other thread, looks really sweet. believe me, with a sound system and a fast bmw, you will never want to leave your car again

I sit in my office all day trying to make up places to go drive it to! haha
I'm sitting at home now pissed that I don't have anywhere to go. More pissed cause it's rush hour and I couldn't get there anyway!
By the way....once the system was all hooked up I was shocked how well it sounded. It's truly a great system, and aside from the head unit, it's all OEM. The built in amp is one hell of a good idea. Those wacky German carmakers are allright!
Oh just in case anyone wondered....
Driving an M3 while playing Low Rider.....probably the single coolest feeling ever. hahaha
