I just replaced my OEM factory tape deck from my E36 with a CD player.

Out of sheer boredom tonight I looked on eBay to see what the factory tape deck sold for. There are numb nuts on there spending $175 bucks on the damn thing!

I don't understand why anyone would do this, but I want to take full advantage of it.

So anyway I want to put my tape deck on eBay but I also want it to work for who I sell it to. I know once you've disconnected those they need a code to reset them. I have no idea what the code for this thing is. How would I find a thing like that out or reset the system so it'll work for a new user?

And does anyone have any insight on why someone would spend 175 bucks on a tape deck?

crack smokers. I'll sell it on ebay for you, minus 10% and ebay fees. Ship it to me and I'll get code for it too.

I can work eBay just fine. Been doing it for years. It's the code part that confuses me.

yeah...I just wanted $17.50.

Take the radio to the dealer and go to the parts department. They can give you the code. You can also try looking in the owners manual, if you still have it. There will be a card with the code on it.

Oh awesome! I do still have the manual.

Nothing quite as exciting as learning your outdated, recently replaced, factory tape player is for some odd reason worth more than your brand new awesome cd player.

Sweet. I'll have to do this too. My cd player was $325 though.

Yeah I never much understood why you'd need a $300 cd player either. I mean if you've got a good ear for that sort of thing sure....but for me....I'll be damned if I can tell the difference between a $100 CD player and a $500 player.

With the factory built in amplifier in the car I can't imagine needing a system with more power. But to each their own! So enjoy your tunes, bud! (Just make sure you're playing something good when you drive past my house. haha)
