I've got no sound coming from my head unit - all the cables seem to be nice and tightly connected so can't see a problem there - my radio works - the time on the cd-player spins round so dont see the problem with the cd player either.

is it an amplified system or is everything running off the radio?

everything is running from my pioneer avic-x1r, don't know if there is a factory installed amp in the car - could the fuse have blown if it does?

i haven't installed an aftermarket amp.

If the radio works and the cd does not, and you just put it in, it sounds like you have the blue antenna wire hooked up instead of the blue/white amp wire, that would cause the radio to operate but not the cd player. It sounds like you have a factory amp from the discription of the problem.

Hope this helps,
Bob

Yup, typically the blue is a power antenna lead, and the blue/white is a power amp lead. The difference is that the power antenna lead shuts off when you go to CD, DVD, CD changer because it knows you aren't listening to the radio and therefore is supposed to pull the power antenna back down into the fender. When you hook an amp to this wire it shuts off when you go to any source other that radio.

Isn't there a "remote" wire rather than a power antenna wire?

If not, just hook the factory amp's remote wire (white one) to a switched 12v lead somewhere.
