my personal favs are JL audio for subs and mtx for amps. I have 2 JL w0s with 2 mtx 432 watt thunder contiunious power amps. sounds awesome...

Alpine Type R subs. They are just as good as older JL w6s and cost about half as much. Good tight, but loud bass. Get them on ebay and you will only pay about 200 for two of them, brand new for about 25-40 bucks tops for shipping. The rest should be used on a good amp that can give each sub about 250 watts RMS or more. I was using a MRV 1507 amp. Amazing amp. Zapco, Xtant, PPI, and Phoenix Gold all make great powerful amps that will last.

The Kicker Solobaric L7 by Stillwater Designs is one of the biggest bang for the buck subwoofers. I would Highly recomend a single 12" and a huge mono amp. That would easily eat up that $600 that is burning a hole in your pocket.

JL and Rockford Fosgate are also reputable SPL subwoofer companies.

you can get a JBL 1200.1 mono block amp (the same one i just purchased) from woofersetc.com for 300 bucks plus shipping, you should also be able to pick up a L7 solobaric sub from Kicker off of there or ebay really cheaply, but dont forget to keep in mind you are probably gonna need wiring, cap, new battery, or upgraded alternator. and all the fiber glass, MDF, etc. that your gonna need when YOU install it yourself with a guy that you have help you. my next door neighbor is helping me with my install this weekend, dont waste your time with places like Car Toys.

Anyway, my setup is for sale also in the classified forum. Hits pretty hard, but more SQ oriented. You can easily feel it though.
