New System

I posted a previous topic regarding a system I am looking at for my 99 328I.

My only reservation is the price. Seems kind of high for what I am getting. I also had reservations about the amp being under powered for the system and talked the guy into giving me the next step up in the amp for the same price. I don't want to attempt to install myself as I really don't know what I am doing and am afraid I will screw up my nice car. Here is the system configuration:

Kenwood KDC X579 eXcelon HU
MB Quart Discus 5 1/4 speakers
Eclipse 50W x2 amp
JL Audio Stealth box
Installation audio (tweeters)
Stinger cables, power wire, ground wire, etc.
Harness, aentena adapter, etc.

All installed, including tax $1,423.85.

Seems high to me, but I must admit, it has been several years since I shopped for car audio. Seems like I ought to be able to save some $ somewhere.

Yeah that doesn't sound great. I check out a few other shops in town, if I were you. For $1500, you should be able to get seperates front and back, and a four channel amp to run it all. The stealth boxes from JL are ok, but their over priced in my opinion.
