Hey everyone, just wanted to update everyone on my system. I just bought an Alpine 9833 to replace my Alpine 7893. Crutchfield had an insane sale on it, 300 shipped. Ebay is sellin the same model for 309 without shipping! Plus Crutchfield comes wit a 1 year warantee on everything and it's shipped to me in 2 days! If anyone wants a kick ass Cd/MP3 player take a look at it at crutchfield.com
Usually they are really over priced but they did a good job this time. I'll post pics in 3 days when i have it all installed!
Yeah, I picked up my Clarion from Crutchfield i guess when they were moving hem out for the newer models. Got it like $100 cheaper shipped. I would do business with them again, you can;t beat their customer service.
By the way the unit looks good. You should post a pic when you get it installed.
Crutchfield is probably the best online retailer of consumer electronics on the web. They were selling stuff mail order by phone long before the internet was around, er..popular. Not the cheapest, but totally reliable, and have excellent customer service. Nice deck.
Just got it all installed and it sounds great. Had a lil problem when installing it-i fed too much wire into the tap splice and it came out the other side and grounded against the sleeve and popped the fuse. Took me a while to realize what i did but i figured it out and now it works!!!
Hey thanks beamin,
Because of your post I went to crutchfield and checked out that alpine and got one for myself. I have been using crutchfield for many years and have been looking for a deck for a while, and you're right that was an insane sale! The only problem was that crutchfield hasn't done any research on my car (00 328I) so they gave me the install kit for a 99. I am not sure if any of it will work with my car. Do you or anyone else know if the wiring and adapter plate will work with my car? I'ts not a HK system, just a standard tape deck n And will I have to use an antenna adapter? I have installed many systems before, just never on a bimmer. Thanks
I bought the wiring adapter ebay and i never hooked the antenna up. Somone on here told me 20 bucks for an adapter for the radio, i have cd's-i don't need the radio. I think it was 20 dollars for the wiring adapter on Ebay. I don't know, i didn't get a wiring kit from Crutchfield, i had one from my last stereo. So i don't know how to help ya out. Sorry
Post pics after u get it installed

Thanks beamin,
I will post some pics when i get it done. Did you happen to add an aftermarket amp or did you keep the stock one? I have been toying with the idea of adding a 4 channel amp that i have from a previous install. I have also thought about bypassing the stock amp and just letting the HU do all the work. I will see how it sounds once I have it together.
If the amplifier has more than 30 watts per channel RMS, you'll more than likely enjoy it more than the headunit power. Amplifiers typically sound better than ANY radio's built in power. Good luck with the install.
