need some help with sub/amp....

i am looking to add some bass to my 99 318ti. I am looking for maybe one hard hittin 12 or maybe 2 10's. I cant seem to get any honest help cause everyone keeps trying to f me over (bestbuy) charging $200 plus just for install!! anyone that can "bypass" the stock amp or whatever needs to be done to install this stuff right please let me know. I am hoping that fellow bmw owners can help better than those money hungry assholes. let me know

$200 won't get you anything decent. What is your total budget?

Also, unless you are trying to install and aftermarket HU, there is no need to bypass the amp.

i think he means that they will charge him 200 bucks or more just for installing, then more money for amp, sub, encloser, ect...

200 bucks for that is too much.... doesnt bestbuy install for free if you but their crap, or no?

$200 might not be that far off. $40/hour is a reasonable charge and an installer could easily kill that kind of time mounting the subs in the box, tearing up the carpet, making the wiring "pretty", putting the carpeting back together, and then adjusting the bass levels and providing the customer some hand-holding.

Not being a professional, I have easily killed entire Saturdays doing a sub install. It's been worth it to me, but I've found very few installs that were cookie-cutter and didn't eat up a ton of time until I got it just right.

I think if someone isn't willing/able to do the work themselves then they shouldn't complain when someone needs to earn a living doing the work. I personally enjoy figuring things out, but I've also messed things up a number of times!
