I Just purchased a 1993 740i and this is an awsome car, but I have no dang radio!!! I have no idea how to fix this problem and I need music when I drive, what can I do? What do I need to put an Alpine system in this car? or is the stock radio and 6 disc changer worth keeping?
Thanks

If you have the manual, your code will be on a card inside the manual purse. If not yank the radio, it may very well be on it, wasn't on mine, but I've heard of that being the case with other's cars. If these two fail, the dealer will do it for ya.
Uhm, I've had a 5er and currently own a 3, but not a 7. If my '93 5er and your car are the same, it's cake. Do you have any pics of the dash, or can you get 'em? Should be two little flaps mid way up on each side that flip open. This leaves you with two 8mm hex screws to unloosen, and the unit slide right out. Takes less than 5min.
And yes, I'm sure it does. That's one of my favorite BMW cars. to BMW, and welcome bmw-forums. Hope you find both enjoyable. I don't doubt you will...
OK, I pulled the HU out and it does have a number on it, but it is only 4 digits, I think the number I need is 5 digits, what in the hell do I do now????
I guess I have to call the dealer?
What do I tell them?
Ok, What do I need to change to place an ALpine HU in this car? I have the CD changer is it compatable with a different HU?
you need a wiring harness to put in an Alpine. The CD changer will not work with newer Alpines. To get the code from the dealer you have to give them serial number. Most won't give it out over the phone.
