I just felt like venting on how bad my audio system sucks in my bmw...the highs, are good.. the bass, is TERRRRRRRRRIBLE...... NO bass at all......it ruins some of my favorite songs because I can't even hear the bass... if only they made good systems...
btw - does anyone here know on the 325i's, if I was able to get ahold of a harmon kardon amp and the harmon kardon speakers, i.e. 6*9s for rears and that, would I be able to do a direct fit between my shitass nokia system, and the harmon kardon hookups??? and since this is a technical question, I am putting this in the E36 technical section..

here's what I have in there now.... it's the blaupunk amp, with the nokia speakers....I've never heard anything sound this bad before.... it's probably because all of the speakers are so damn small....

I threw the stock speakers away as soon as I bought my car. Even the $30 Pioneer Wallmart speakers make better replacements. I felt better getting rid of the stock amp as well, for weight reduction purposes I rather liked the front kick panel speakers though. After I replaced the factory head unit with a SONY Xplod, the front kick panel speaker pounded quite nicely. The rear speakers are just garbage.

well the kick panel speakers are aftermarket... some DELPHI speakers, and they have a fairly large magnet on the backs, doesn't look too terrible, but it's only a 5 1/4" speaker....that size alone can't produce good bass anyway.... but I've heard of by-passing the factory amp, but I'm a little cloudy on the way you go about doing so.. Could it be just connecting the 2 wire harnesses wires together?

I've bypassed the factory amp. It's quite a hassle. I recommend just re doing it and running all the wires to the speakers from the head unit. You have to find the wiring diagram and basically cut the wires going to the amp and connect it to the rear speakers. Then you run wires from the front head units wiring harness down to the other front kick panel speakers. I just left the door panel speakers alone because I don't know how to run wires into the door without cutting up the rubber seals (which I don't want to do).

you oughta just put a sub in, i've replaced my speakers and i put the little 10" basslink in and that is adequate for me...i don't know what all you're into but like bryan said any new speakers are better than stock
As to the basslink system. Does anyone know where i can get a wireing harness like the on the amp or the bavauto basslink kit? I'd like to build my own wiring kit as a basslink can be had for less than $300 from other sources.
yeah i wasnt satisfied with my stock speakers great for SQ but the bass just isnt there, my 2 12's kick out enough for me right now, not a huge bump who ride but gives me the sound i need!
well sound is important to me, but above and beyond all things, performance is, and since I'm sure I'll turn the car trackside up, I don't want any big thumps coming from the back you know.....I was hoping the BMW's M3s 6*9s from harmon kardon would do the job for adding a little bit of bass..

it's not hard to install w/o a wiring harness - you have the speaker wire right behind the carpet and the battery in the trunk; i spent about a half hour - 45 minutes (max) hooking mine up.
I know its easy. I've done more complicated installs before but I want the easy of just being able to take it out if i want to. Perhaps I could rig my own harnnes of one kind in the trim wall or something...
mine is almost ready to pull out - minus the ground wire, and power - everything else is like a plug in (speaker lines and remote line clip in) - whenever i haul my 4x12 around i pull the basslink out in less than a minute
btw if you do create some kind of harness post some pic's...tha'd be even more convenient than my current setup
