Hi All,
I am looking to get some ideas on a sub woofer install in my e36 1998 328i.
I currently have a 10" Orion XTR pro in a vented wedge box, but I think boxes look terrible and clunky not to mention take up space.
I was wondering if anyone had done any type of custom install or knows of any cool sub enclosures that would 1. free up some room in my trunk, and 2. look better than the old sub box tossd in the trunk.
Not sure if it matters, but I am running an Alpine H/U and a 500.1 Orion XTR amp.
Pictures of cool install always welcome!

this fits right in my trunk..it was also made by a mod on this site (el pres)
a wedge shape will always give a better sound than a square. You can have an enclosure like that in an e36, but it has to be fiberglass to be form-fitting.

That's what I am using now, a small ported wedge(which does hit pretty hard for a 10) but it just looks like I tossed a box in my trunk (which is basically what I did) and not part of the trunk.
When I think "custom install" I think of something that has been molded to the cars shape or made to fit the specific vehicle and not just a box tossed in the back. I like it to blend in, which probably does mean it will need to be fiberglass.
I saw this SUB BOX and it's exactly what I want, I just don't want to pay $380 for it ($272 +$176 overseas shipping)

I dislike fiberglass because it needs to be layered thick to attain good acoustic properties. I know how to do it, but have never actually done it.

I see. Unfortunately that is the only way to have something "molded" to fit the car. Dilemma, dilemma, dilemma
If you check out the picture I posted of the sub enclosure in my Celica (above) it is fiberglass and had excellent sound. Very clean and hit you like a brick (of course it has a 12" installed, not a 10").
My quest continues...
