Looking At New System

I am looking at replacing the crappy sound system in my 99
328I. Here is what I am looking at:

Kenwood KDC X579 head unit
MB Quart Discuss 5 1/4 rear speakers
Eclipse 50W X2 amplifier
JL Audio Stealthbox subwoofer
Installation Audio front speakers and tweeters

This may not be the top of the line system, but I am on a budget and what I heard sounded good.

Please give me your thoughts.

The amp is severely underpowered.

You need a bigger amp for sure. If you are strapped for cash why not upgraed in phases? Start with replacing the speakers using the stock HU. Personally I would go with the same up fron as at the back, also I find that the system in my E46 and in my old E30 sounded better with just fronts and a sub, no rears. If you think that it is say $100 for fronts and $100 for rears, imagine what no rears and a $200 set of comps up front will sound like? They will go just deep enough for the sub to take over. The sub can be run from an amp reveiving a signal from the rear speakers.

When funds allow replace the HU

PMB is correct. I use no rears in my e36 as well. 9 times out of 10 you get better imaging.
