Hey, Long time no talk

I'm about to purchase 2 x W6 JL Audio Subs. They are used, but in perfect condition. The guy wants 250 for the 2 subs, and 400 for the 2 subs and the box. I guess They're all JL, inluding the box. He's bringing them over today so I can check em out.. Anyone had any troubles with JL? I kinda thought he was crazy cause they retail like 500 a peice.. his loss is my gain.

JL is good stuff. Find out what he was using for an amp first though. I would stay away If he was pushing a ton of power.

What kind of box? Is it sealed or ported? I love the sound of W6's in a nice thick sealed box. It sounds so tight and so deep.

I'd do the opposite. Stay away if he wasn't pushing enough. Too little will always kill a sub before too much.

the w6 series of jl will take a beating. i had 2 15w6 competition series and they handled 1000 watts of power. i concur with the latter though, not enough power is worse. take a good look at the foam surrounds, dust cap, and look at the connectors by the coil...usually a good sign of how often they have been handled.

I had 2 jl 12w6's in a nice sized box in my e36 318i before, I ran 400w rms to each one with a kenwood excelon amp... they always sounded really nice, and they are still running rock solid (though, my friend stole them and they are in his car.... jerk...) still working on that small claims court filing
