Ipod Question

I'm planning to add an IPOD cable for an IPOD mini, but was wondering how is everyone's experience; i.e.

1. How much does it cost for you to get yours installed
a. labor cost
b. part cost
2. What's the good and bad regarding the IPOD functionality with existing HU
3. Are you able to use the IPOD's cable for other external devices, such as connecting a laptop's audio cable
4. Were you able to place the cable somewhere else besides the glove compartment.

I pod would not be avaiable to other devies as it uses the dock port.

i don't know much else.

1 a. different from dealer to dealer
b. MSRP - $150
2 I'd suggest reading the operation manual for what it can do, or try searching forum boards for comparison of the OEM BMW adapter to other's.
3 cable that is part of the kit can not be used for anything else (stays in the car and is non-removable)
4 i put my cable in the sunglasses box that is located below ac controls and above lighter - this box is perfect size for the ipod. My sunglasses didn't fit there anyways and my glove box available for other things - plus i don't have to worry about something hitting the ipod there.

First off, what car is this going in? Do you have your oem head unit? Is your car a 2002 or newer?
