| You could always get a signal booster and integrate it to the factory amp at the radio's wiring (be sure to use diodes, etc)
Then when the radio is off (and only when the radio is off) you can use the ipod controls as you normally would. With a signal booster and a high-level to low level converter, you should actually be able to get a *decent* sound from it.
It's better and almost as cost efficient to get an aftermarket deck with an aux input, though.
