alpine 9831r in dash.

thoughts: was not sure about the look of this unit when i first got it - thought it was a bit bright and didn't match the rest of the dash that well. had a play with the setting tho' and pretty happy with it now - actually quite like the 'black out' mode which blacks out the screen graphics.

if i can work out how to turn off the flash on my camera, will post some shots showing the colouring.

I've got a Clarion DXZ645MP (no pics cause my camera sucks in low light) but the orange illumination setting is a near-perfect match for the factory interior of my E36 - very nice looking at night, and it sounds nice as well, with a Line-In, MP3 and whatnot.

Why would you want rear noise?

What concert has surround sound? The music comes from in front of you, with few if any backwaves. My rear speakers are virtually discconected. The only reason I would want speakers in the rear would be for watching movies in the car.

To each his / her own; I guess? ghead

EL Presidente, music is all about how individual listeners want to hear it; loud or soft, booming bass or screeching highs, mono, stereo, or 5.1, etc.

Not to steal the thread or anything, but if you want to or don't want to hear rear sound, or equalization curves, or balance controls it is totally up to you.

Don't just call us crazy 'cus someone wants to optimize their sound to suit themselves. It's their cash, and their sound. I mean, do I laugh at people who have 4-15 inch subs, 4,000 watts, and 20 Farads in a Mini?

Nooooo.

After all the questions, I got my radio installed on Friday. Just now took some pics, and i'm extremely happy with it. Not only does it sound good, it looks good too.

For anyone who doesn't know, it's an Alpine CDA-9833. Got it for $320 brand new .

...Where the hell do the smudges come from

Camera didn't quite get the colors right. The square buttons on the left are a dark red color that matches the hazard lights button.

You can change the colors to pretty much anything. Wish I could make the display an orange color too, but it still looks good.

I know, that is becoming more commonplace. From the way he described it though, it was almost as though he wanted more to come from the rear. Couldn't help but ask why.
