Installation Cost

Say I didn't want to install my head unit myself ... scared i'll royally screw something up. What would be too much to pay for installation? How much does it cost on average?

Try callin shops around town get a few estimates.

get some friends over offer beer in return for help or something like that..

do not take it anywhere to get it installed. I had mine installed at best buy (becuase the HU suggests you run a directline to the batt and I didn't want to do all that) and it cost me $85ish for the installation and parts. All he did was what I told you in the other post, and didn't even run a new line. Pissed me off.

And trust me, there is no way you can royally screw something up. the HU harness and adapter harness have color coded and labeled wires so you don't have to worry about mixing up the signals when you connect them. Everything else is juts plug and play.

i paid around $100 for install they also checked my rear speakers, and 2 were blown

Paying for professional installation is really a measure of convenience.

1. You dont have to do any work!
2. If something goes wrong down the road, they have to fix it, and again, you dont have to do any work!

Beyond that, it is not difficult to do yourself. Follow Prez's directions and you will be fine. You are rewarded with the feeling of accomplishment and a few extra bucks in your pocket.

Here in Alabama I charge $40.00 for a professional installation, the wiring harness you need is $12.95, and then 8% tax on the harness...Like they said it is pretty easy to do, but some people feel alot more comfortable letting someone with professional experience handle it, and that is why we audio shops are here, to provide a service for people who cannot perform it themselves!
