i need help w/ my amp and subwoofer set up

i just bought 2 rockford fosgate amp, those are 401S and 601S, and 2 12" MTX subwoofer, but the things i got stuck here is i cant install it

(some guy told me that at the good guys)cuz he said that the bmw business CD car radio doesnt have the "pre-out" at the back of the car radio?which mean i cant connect the amp to the head unit, did he said it rite?

i had a 99" 328i

does the 99" 328i head unit really doesnt have the "pre-out" at the back of the head unit?if it dont, i have to change a aftermaket car radio?(that would be ulgy look)

Neither oem deck has RCA preouts. With an adaptor (Line-Level converter) you can tap the speaker leads to get RCA's. This isn't the best of sound quality, I would recomend an aftermarket head unit from Nakamichi or Alpine. Neither are ugly, and both would greatly improve sound quality across the board.

If you are merely after some bass, use a line level converter and toss in your amp. The 401S is useless in this scenario, and the 601S should power 2 MTX subs just fine. Are the subs Thunder 3000's? 6000's?

factory radios rarely have preouts. You need an RCA converter to make them work with the amps.

That amp/sub combo will actually sound pretty good. Are you gonna install it yourself?

Get a line level converter. tap spkr leads (follow directions on the box)

+ (pos) from the bat.

- (ground) solid metal in trunk, or ground from bat.

remote wire from oem amp in trunk (white wire)

run spkr wire from Fosgate amp to sub box and wire subs into the box.

Done.
Go for a test drive to see how it sounds, and while your out, pick up some more beer.
