how to install CD player

I have a 01 330ci with a factory cascette. I am looking to getting a factory single-disc CD player to replace the cascatte. I assume CD players from any 01 or up 325/330 model should fit, am I right?

An other question is, can I install the CD player by myself and how? Is there any code, security issue I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance.

Im not sure about the e46 but on my car e36 there are two screws that hold it in just unskrew them and it should come out. If you get a factory one just plug it right into the harness and you are good to go..

you can buy the factory changer if you want CD as well. Or an aftermarket and a handshake.
