How do you sync your remote key to your car?

I let the battery go dead in my key, and I need to sync it to my car, is this something I can do or do I have to go to the dealer?

If you can find that, thank you. It's for a 98 528i sport

Thumbs up

To charge the key, drive with it for say 1/2 hour. This will charge the eprom chip inside your key. To sync or reinitialize your key perform the following:
1) insert key to position 1 and remove
2) within 10 seconds press and hold unlock button on your key while depressing lock button three times.
3) release and if all goes well, the locks should automatically reset themselves. Good luck.
