HMmm NEW HORN..

Hey do you have to ground a new horn. I've never replaced one before. My car didn't come with one and I bought a new one. I plugged the only connector that fit and it doesn't work. But I imagine there is a catch. Do you also have to ground it before it works?

Yuppers, when you bolt it down, it grounds the body of the horn, completing the circuit.

It needs to touch bare metal, so if your engine are you are talking about is painted (most are to keep from rusting), it still wont work. Take a scrap piece of wire, touch one end to your battery's negative terminal, the other to the mounting area of the horn. With the factory plug on the terminal of the horn, if the horn works, it should honk then.

Did you unmount the horn and try it at the battery?
