sil325i is an unknown quantity at this point
does anyone know if i put in a new head unit, will the security code affect it in any way? will it make the receiver not work? I bought the 325i early this year and have not yet gotten the security code. I thought that I would rather get a new head unit than pay 75 dollars to get the code. if the code is not put in, will the new hu work without the code? help.....

it will work without the code... it is only for the stock headunit. As for the $75, the dealer will give you the code for free

other dealers do (for free) especially if they are just nice or they know you.... however some will only do it for a fee... just try your local dealer. if not call other dealers.
