Unhappy Help with E46 aerial connection ?

Hi Guys,
I have an E46 328 Coupe that has a radio tape headunit connected to a multichanger in the boot. It is a Harmon Kardon system that has never been messed with.
I have recentley bought a stock radio CD headunit from another E46 after I was assured that the CD would simply slot in place of the tape unit with no trouble at all !!!!!!
I have removed my tape unit and i can see that there are two plugs to the side of the block connector. One of them is clearly an aerial but the other lead is attached to the head unit with a nut, this lead is insulated.
The problem is that the CD head unit is a completely different type of aerial connection and there is no space for this second insulated lead to go ?
Does anybody have any idea if I can purchase an aerial adaptor, and what is this second lead for.
Thank you for any help and advice. !!
