I've removed the HU but, do I detach the wires coming out of the back of the HU? If so, what is the trick to removing them? I moved the outside of the black plastic casing upward (a fraction) like the diagram shows, but then what? Pull everything straight back or just the wires? or does everything slide upward? Nothing seems to want to move and I'm a little afraid to force it.

Also, my unit has additional wires coming out of the back leading to a rectangular metal box (about 1 X 4 inches). The manual says it's a DC/DC converter. Do I need this, or can I unplug it? or do I just jam it in with the rest of the wires? Thanks for any advice.
