I already have an aftermarket Alpine HU. I think it is just only one out, so I can't run 2 amps? The headunit is an Alpine CDE-9845.
Yeah I want to spend around $500, my bro can help me install it, he just installed someones last weekend. There was a best buy package for around $440 by power acoustik or something like that, thats what my friend got and my bro installed last week, they seem ok, hit hard but clarity is ...
Any suggestions?
thanks sorry for long post and bad punctuation.

yea it hits pretty hard but i have a convertible and i have heard it doesnt hit as hard as hard top thats why im getting four type-x. As for the speakers i have heard good things about the infinitys i have alpine throughout my car except for the hu though and it sounds really go imo.
You can run 2 amps by either using a splitter (i.e. 1 male/2 female Y) or by using the RCA Output that most amps have today to daisy chain the amps together.
You'd be WAY happier with the Alpines. The type S subs for the money are good stuff. You should be able to get an amp, 2 subs, box, and the wiring kit for about your price range, especially since you are doing the install yourself.
As far as the Infinitys go, I havent heard a better set yet for the price. Go listen to them, I mean really listen to them without your friends, (they influence you, whether or not you know it), compare the Reference series to ANY other brand within $10-20pr. You wont be dissapointed.
I have had my Kappa series for over 4 years now and they havent ever failed me yet. Run a good amp on them, dont rely on your decks power to supply good sound, it just wont happen most of the time....
Hope that helps.....

Alpine has a 10" and a 12" in the Type-S line. They also carry a full line of mids in the Type-S line too. They have a Type-E (stay away from), Type-S (the good middle-of-the-road-line), and the Type-R which is the pro-series line and no one really needs unless you have a big wallet.
hope that helps....

the type-r's werent that expensive. like 150 a sub i think maybe llittle more. But then alpine also has the Type-x which are hardcore subs like comp. put a good amp to those and look for high db levels
oh ok, also if I replace my speakers do you think I should get components instead? I saw some Boston ones that also have some rectangular controller thing that will just send bass to the speaker, and highs to the tweeter. And I heard their rear speakers are nice also, so I don't think I need to switch to 6X 9's if i'm going to get subs eventually?

The box you are referring to is a x-over. It does what you are talking about (bass to woofer part, etc). Bostons are good except for the Rally/CX series (or whatever they are calling the low end line now). If you are going to get subs, I would put a decent set of 5.25" or 6.5" in there and let the subs play the bass part, like they are designed to.

The Rally series used to be a nice set, but now they are pretty shrill on the highs.
I would check out focal's lower lines. I have the 165W from them, and I love it. The lower lines are no slouch, and can be had for very good prices.
If you are buying on the internet, check out ikesound.com for Alpine subs.. haven't been there in a while but I believe the type r 10s and 12s can be had for around 120 + shipping.... they AREN'T authorized, but they offer a 90 day warranty in case they are DOA ... and the price difference from online to store is so huge I would definately consider it.
