Hi, I am new to this board, and I am in real need of help. I have a 96 318i and the stock hu was shot. so I got a new hu/cd changer and XM installed. I had little or no reception with the old hu but now I sorta get fm but it seems weak at best and absolutely no am. I have not tinted the car yet as I read in another posting that metalic tint may or may not affect reception. Could it be the antenna, and if it is where is the damn thing?
The oem antenna is built into the rear window. These rarely fail and I would be more suspicious as to the antenna connection behind the radio. Make sure the installer used the proper antenna adaptor (Metra 40-NI10) so that it interfaces with your aftermarket head unit properly.
