I just got back from picking up what apears to be a a radio bracket from the place that took care of my car after the breakin. Anyways I'm not sure its the right part as Its got e34 marked on it and I' gots and e36. Anyone got pics of the dash area with the stereo out so i can see if its the right part at all or if i need other parts too.

Crap. I seem to have gotten the wrong part from the stupid place. Perhaps I can make it to the dealer to get the right part ordered tomorrow.

Can someone maybe get me the part number?

1st pic is right after break in. we can see the part I need.
2nd pic is after back from shop.
3rd pic is a metal bracket that looks like the ones that come with aftermarket stereos that the shop got for me with a e34 and a part numebr on it.

OOOO

Im confused. Whats the problem? You're not trying to replace the factory HU are you?

The plastic thing in you're PM you're talking about is a trim ring, I think. The sleeve is HU specific, and the tabs are bent to secure it in place.

Or am I completely wrong. Need better pics. I'll pull the HU tomorrow anyway.

DING DING DING... yes that and whatever else attaches to it. you will most likely get a better idea of whats missing when you look at yours and compare to my pics of it not being there.

ya i had to kick up the levels cause it was too dark. sorry about that.

Not that you two have confused the crap out of me, but I wanna play name the part in the pictiure....

Pic 1: Is your dash with no radio (sorry to hear bout that by the way, sucks)

Pic 2: Is another pic of your dash with no radio (still sucks man..again, sorry)

Pic 3: Is indeed a cage, and I would be willing to bet that the pic you PMed Prez was indeed a trim ring. Both of which come with an aftermarket radio and would have no BMW part numbers such as E36 or E34. As far as I recall there isn't really any trim piece in HU opening other than that plastc holster thing that kinda holds everthing, but I seriously doubt those morons that broke in messed that up. Could have broken the bottom lip though...

didn't PM pres anything all pics are here so far.

They broke it. there was a plastic shelf like thing in there seperating the climate control and stereo areas and some kind of mount points that was damaged and removed durring this whole process. You can kinda see it in pic 1.

I need that and what ever that attaches too. So far I see no way of mounting the cage they gave me...

more evidence of broken crap for mounting... not sure if that was an alpine part or not but it was a piece found after break in thats got something to do with the stereo installation.

I got the part I needed after a vist to the dealer ship.

It's a pretty cheap part. And hopefuly my installer will deal with it for me.

here is a pic of it...

and yes the whole thing was missing from my dash when i got it back from the shop.
